LONG-COVID Gripping Heart-Health continued years after COVID-19’s first attack in early 2020, and second attack in 2021. Today’s MSN News Headline, “COVID-19 took a toll on heart health and doctors are still grappling with how to help” resonates strongly.

My Story: LONG-COVID Gripping Heart-Health
My Personal Encounter: Battling LONG-COVID Gripping Heart-Health
Finally, I reached my cardiologist’s appointment after a challenging journey. Having endured symptoms all week, I hesitated to revisit the hospital after my recent emergency room visit. Despite the discomfort, I pressed on, adapting my life and work around the ongoing issues. Upon reaching the cardiologist’s office, I was breathless and tardy, my face flushed.
Subsequently, transport was dispatched to transport me to the ER for observation, as Hospitalization Event number 175 loomed. The reasons spanned from chest pain and heart discomfort to respiratory struggles and neuropathic spasms affecting my left foot, lower back, and neck. Migraines further compounded the situation, and my pulse oximeter reading dipped from 95% to 90%. Somehow, I managed to make it to the appointment despite the ordeal.
The pain endured even after my discharge, as was evident a few Sundays ago when my blood glucose levels surged, accompanied by pain. Dealing with a blood glucose spike to 355 without any sustenance, I resorted to lemon ice water to temper the situation, striving to avoid excessive use of Nitroglycerine for chest pain. With my next cardiologist appointment scheduled in 12 days, I remain in anticipation.
I now find myself among the fortunate ones, with a team of Northwestern Hospital Long Covid Clinic Specialists diligently addressing my case. The battle against a myriad of persisting symptoms, years after becoming an early patient of COVID-19, necessitates the concerted efforts of an entire array of specialists.
Grateful and hopeful, I appreciate being alive and productive. Overcoming Post Covid challenges brings hope and wellness. Yet, it saddens me that I’m the sole survivor among similar individuals. My earnest hope is for fewer to succumb. Let us recover, support, and inspire those who follow.
